Due to the development of the automotive industry, the company began working in North America in 2011.

The main focus is on the Big Three in Detroit. Initially, an attempt was made to build up the OEM business with a local representative in Fort Wayne (Indianapolis). In 2014, David N. Peter decided to set up a paint factory in Troy (Michigan, Detroit). After starting in an office building, a building was purchased from DuPont in 2015 and fully expanded. With space for the research, development and production of our products with appropriate approvals, good conditions have been created for the successful development of PETER/LACKE USA. In addition to the American OEMs, the German car manufacturers in the southern states are also supported. In addition, there are glass coating companies from the east to the west coast of the USA.

The first exports to Poland began at the end of the 1980s. On May 12, 1998, the company PETER/LACKE Polska was founded in Steszew near Poznan.

Increased quality requirements in the automotive and lifestyle sectors, as well as efforts to tap into new markets, made closer cooperation between the headquarters in Hiddenhausen and the subsidiary possible.
Since 1999, Peter Pilat had been working as a sales representative for PETER/LACKE, primarily in the field of plastic coatings for audio/video equipment in Poland and Russia.

PETER/LACKE India Priv. Ltd. was founded at the beginning of December 2007. The company is located in a new industrial area in Navi Mumbai. The branch is located 40 kilometers east of Mumbai, an important location for the Indian automotive industry.

The focus is on customers in the automotive interior and exterior industries with Tata, VW, Skoda and GM as well as glass manufacturers for hollow glass and cosmetics packaging. Due to the high import duties and the difficult infrastructure of the huge subcontinent, the company was set up from the outset to produce locally and offer appropriate laboratory services for individual customer requirements.

New office and factory buildings are currently being built in Mumbai and are due to be occupied in 2024.
