Due to the development of the automotive industry, the company began working in North America in 2011.

The main focus is on the Big Three in Detroit. Initially, an attempt was made to build up the OEM business with a local representative in Fort Wayne (Indianapolis). In 2014, David N. Peter decided to set up a paint factory in Troy (Michigan, Detroit). After starting in an office building, a building was purchased from DuPont in 2015 and fully expanded. With space for the research, development and production of our products with appropriate approvals, good conditions have been created for the successful development of PETER/LACKE USA. In addition to the American OEMs, the German car manufacturers in the southern states are also supported. In addition, there are glass coating companies from the east to the west coast of the USA.

With the acquisition of Magna Coatings in 2015, PETER/LACKE was able to expand its product range on the American continent. The managing directors had no succession plan, David N. Peter seized this opportunity.

With these new products, PETER/LACKE has expanded its sector diversity. The Sports & Leisure sector was added with the market for golf clubs, guitars and field hockey sticks.

These activities are carried out in close cooperation with the activities of PETER/LACKE Shanghai in southern China, where the aforementioned items are produced and painted. The site in Vista also serves as a service location for the North-West Mexico region.

PETER/LACKE México S.A. de CV was founded in Querétaro in 2007. The new premises in the industrial area of Querétaro offer sufficient space for administration, development, production and shipping.

Design development and production on site are no problem for the qualified team. The most important industries for PETER/LACKE México are the automotive sector (German and Japanese OEMs) as well as the lifestyle sector and glass manufacturers. The new building, including warehouse, was occupied in 2022.

The first exports to Poland began at the end of the 1980s. On May 12, 1998, the company PETER/LACKE Polska was founded in Steszew near Poznan.

The increase in quality requirements in the automotive and lifestyle sectors, as well as further market developments, made closer cooperation between the headquarters in Hiddenhausen and the subsidiary possible.
Peter Pilat had been working as a sales representative for PETER/LACKE since 1999, primarily in the field of plastic coatings for audio/video equipment in Poland and Russia.

On February 15, 2003, a joint venture was founded between PETER/LACKE GmbH and Peter Pilat and the company relocated to Swienta Katarzyna, near Wroclaw. Since then, things have been going steadily uphill in Poland. The company sells a wide range of coatings, particularly for the plastics processing industry (automotive, household appliances, other plastics processors).
The new administration and laboratory building in Siechnice was occupied and officially opened in 2022.

PETER/LACKE Türkiye was founded in Pendik (in the Asian part of Istanbul) in 2009, marking the company's entry into the Turkish market. Initially, the broad product range of the German parent company was supplied from stock. In a second step, the company's own laboratory was used for series production close to the customer and small quantities were produced. Within a short space of time, references were established in the glass industry, household appliances and the automotive industry. German expertise is highly regarded in Turkey, particularly with regard to easy-to-process, high-quality coating systems.

In 2003, PETER/LACKE Hungaria Kft was founded in Mór near Budapest. Hungary quickly developed into a hub for the whole of south-eastern Europe. In addition to Hungary, further customers were served in Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria. A development laboratory, a qualified technical sales team and reliable process support were the success factors for the company's further development. Business in Hungary developed so well that the decision was made to invest in new premises. In 2016, PETER/LACKE Hungaria Kft. moved to a new, larger and more modern building in Székesfehérvár (Stuhlweissenburg), which is only 30 km away from the original location in Mór.

On April 14, 1993, the first delivery of paints for PA hubcaps went to Santana in Shanghai. Further deliveries of exterior paints (black matt) for VW followed. The sale of interior paints to VW and GM developed in parallel. 1994/95 also saw the first deliveries in the household appliances and consumer electronics sector, for example refrigerators and other appliances from Bosch-Siemens and Braun/Gillette. The first Siemens cell phones were painted with PETER/LACKE in Shanghai (gold color). A wholly owned subsidiary was founded in 2003. In 2010, we moved into a new building in a chemical area in the south of Shanghai (Feng Xian). Over the years, we have established a leading position in Shanghai in the interior sector for VW, GM and Ford. In the meantime, we are also supplying other OEMs and increasingly in other regions of China as well as in the exterior sector.

PETER/LACKE India Priv. Ltd. was founded at the beginning of December 2007. The company is located in a new industrial area in Navi Mumbai. The branch is located 40 kilometers east of Mumbai, an important location for the Indian automotive industry.

The focus is on customers in the automotive interior and exterior industries with Tata, VW, Skoda and GM as well as glass manufacturers for hollow glass and cosmetics packaging. Due to the high import duties and the difficult infrastructure of the huge subcontinent, the company was set up from the outset to produce locally and offer appropriate laboratory services for individual customer requirements.

New office and factory buildings are currently being built in Mumbai and are due to be occupied in 2024.
